Seventeen Again

Recently, I watched a movie named “seventeen again”. The story is telling about a man, who used to be a charming basketball leader in his high school. At the same time, he gave up his favorite basketball on account of that her girlfriend was pregnant. He chose to get married with her without hesitation. Many years passed, the man gradually had no confident in himself and started complaining everything in their lives. He thought that if he could get back to his high school again, he would not give up basketbal.Life is short and cannot repeat again. Hence, we should make our lives to the fullest and have no regret about what you have done. But, sometimes, you cannot burn the candle at both ends.
The story touched me very much. If I were a high school student, I would not give up playing the flute. I would tell my parents that I could take good advantage of the time for studies and practices. I used to play the flute in wind band in my senior high school. However, my parents asked me to give up playing the flute, which needs too much time to practice, in my second grade. They just wanted me to focus on my studies and prepare for the upcoming College Entrance Examination. I chose to obey their opinion though I was very upset.

The Breath-Taking Site-Chih Sing Tan

My family seldom travels on account of that my parents are busying in their job. In my childhood, the most impressive trip for me is going to Hualien. I live in Taichung country, so I have few chances to see the sea. In this case, when I was a child, I had longed for someday I could touch the fresh water of the ocean. It was not until in my eight grades that I realized this dream. My family and I got up early that day, and then my father drove us to Hualien.

The first stop we arrived was Chihsingtan. The peaceful of the ocean was especially set off by the few travelers on that day. As soon as I went to the seaside, I was surprised by the beautiful scenery. The sea surged high and swept forward. The waters and the skies merged in one color. It also stretched as far as eye could see. “I shall never forget the beauty of that sea.” I thought in my mind. I hope I can go to Chihsingtan again soon!

The Poem We Wrote

Tina, Jean, Annie, and I wrote a poem in English poetry class. We chose “chocolate” as our topic. Then we found some adjective for these words, and made them into several sentences. After brainstorming for a long time, we finally completed it. This is our poem

Awake from sadness,
Drunk by sweetness,
Twinkling, twinkling, twinkling
Just like diamond in the night.
Charming, charming, charming
Just like a girl with the smile.
Crying, crying, crying
No more swim ring comes to me.

I got a sense of achievement when I finished the poem because I have never thought that I could make a poem one day!

College Should Not Take A Roll Call

College is a place emphasized learning independence. It is also an important period for independence of personality because we have no chance to learn independently in elementary and high school. Besides, college students are adults; they are old enough to be responsible for their behaviors. If you make a roll call, it will not only destroy the system of learning independence but also deprive their right of choosing. Forcing students to go to class by making roll calls; otherwise, they will lose some points or fail the class. The result of making a roll call only shows that who comes and who do not come to the class. However, it cannot solve the problems. For example, some students have to give up learning to take a part time job for supporting their life. Besides, learning is not always happened in the class. It exists in different kinds of experiences and activities. In this way, some students feel that they cannot learn from the class. They think that if they take part in other activities, lectures, they will gain more. Since college students are adult and they are the one who know what is good to them, why do we need to make a roll call in class? College students have choice to choose what they want!

Mad Men

In fact, when I first saw the episode, I couldn’t make myself understand the story. I think that they are alike, so I always made the mistakes about their characters. But I think I understood the plot clearer after the second episode though the relationships between them still make me confused. I can’t understand that why did they still have extramarital relations after they are married. And it seems that getting an illegal love affair is a normal thing at that time. If it is the truth, then why did they get married? To have a family or have someone do the laundry for you? Maybe it is the director who exaggerates the plot; however, we still can realize the discrimination and inequalities toward women at that time from the story.

English Poetry- Since there's no help

” Since there’s no help” was the poem Tina and I presented today. The poem was written by “Michael Drayton”. Since chapter ten is talking about tone, it must be special. When I first listened to the sound, I was surprised by the tone. It was different from the past I had heard. In the first eight lines, the speaker used a free and easy tone to express the feeling after he broke up with someone. We can find the happiness instead of any sorrow from his words. However, in the lines eight to twelve, the speaker slowed his tone and used personification to describe the scene of the end of love. In this way, we can see that his previous happiness is not real. The sadness is real absolutely. The speaker uses this way to make us easy to perceive the contrast of his feeling.
