Taichung Railway Station

Taichung Railway Station, first called Taichung Parking area, was built in 1905 BC. It was the time when Taiwanese were reigned by Japanese. The first head of the station was塚澤力太郎. The population had increased since the Japanese reigned on account of the prosperity and the development of Taichung city were largely related to the construction of railway.

I lived in Taichung, so Taichung Railway Station is the main transportation for me whenever I want to go to somewhere. I have taken a class “The Culture and Ancient Monument”, and the teacher wants us to choose an ancient monument to present individually. Therefore, I choose Taichung Railway Station, which is designated as ancient monument of level 2, as my presentation.
The back Taichung Railway Station used to be the stop of the Central-Southern line of Taiwan Sugar Company. It was operated by Japanese Empire Sugar Corporation during Japanese reign. The picture is 五分仔車, which used to transport sugar cane from farms in countryside to the main factory of Taiwan Sugar Company in Taichung City. And now, 五分仔車 is known as the Taichung back station, and it continues to transport passengers since then.
